What is Woodforest? What is the development timeline?

A large-scale master-planned community with a population that could eventually reach 15,000 -18,000, Woodforest will have approximately 5,500 homes, as well as retail and commercial properties, places of worship, on-site schools, miles of hike-and-bike trails, lakes, parks, a playground and a world-class Tennis & Aquatics Center (Forest Island).

The first residents began moving into Woodforest Summer 2009, and now more than 275 rooftops are blending into the treed landscape. 13 model homes are open daily, and builders have a varied selection of available homes that are ready for immediate move-in. Which schools serve Woodforest residents?

Woodforest students will attend schools within two highly regarded school districts. Montgomery Independent School District has a strong academic reputation, with impressive TAKS scores that easily top state averages.

Montgomery ISD schools serving Woodforest include Lone Star Elementary, Montgomery Intermediate (4th and 5th grades), Montgomery Middle School (6th grade), Montgomery Junior High (7th and 8th grades) and Montgomery High School. For more information, visit www.misd.org.

Conroe Independent School District also exceeds state averages on the mandated TAKS test and has earned high marks for its financial management. Woodforest students in the Conroe ISD will attend B.B. Rice Elementary, Cryar Intermediate (4th through 6th grades), Peet Junior High (7th and 8th grades) and Conroe High School.

What golf course facts can you provide?

Designed by Steve Elkington, Woodforest Golf Club opened in 2001 and offers 27 holes of challenging play:

Front course: 6,834 yards, Par 72, USGA rating 72.1/129 Back course: 6,953 yards, Par 71, USGA rating 73.1/130 West course: 6,685 yards, Par 71, USGA rating 71.6/124

Practice facilities include a driving range, separate putting and chipping greens and fairway and greenside practice bunkers. Open to daily-fee play, the club offers several membership options. Private and group instruction is available.

Do residents get special privileges at Woodforest Golf Club?

Woodforest residents can take advantage of special resident-only membership packages, with advantageous rates and preferential membership privileges. Woodforest Golf Club has reserved 1,000 full-golf memberships and an unlimited number of social memberships for Woodforest property owners.

Will the current treed landscape in Woodforest remain as development continues?

It is our full intention to keep the forested surroundings that gives Woodforest its name. The Johnson Development Corp. has already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to preserve the trees that define Woodforest, ensuring that this most-coveted feature is found not only in esplanades, forest buffers and floodplain bottomlands, but also within actual homesites, so buyers can enjoy both new homes and old-growth trees.

What is the status of Fish Creek Thoroughfare?

The new Fish Creek Thoroughfare and Lake Creek bridge opened to traffic in May 2009. Fish Creek is a major roadway through Montgomery County - a north-south roadway connecting FM 2854 and FM 1488, both of which provide access to Interstate 45. Fish Creek Thoroughfare also feeds into FM 2978, providing access to Woodlands Parkway and FM 2920, two more routes accessing Interstate 45. The extension of Fish Creek Thoroughfare over the railroad tracks at FM 2854 opened in February 2011 with a new bridge over the railroad tracks that connects Fish Creek Thoroughfare to McCaleb Road allowing instant access to Highway 105.

With the opening of the overpass, drivers now have new north-south access from Highway 105 in Conroe to FM 2854 to Fish Creek Thoroughfare to FM 1488/2978 south to FM 2920 in Tomball.
